Create an Amigurumi Toast 2019/10/22

On this occasion I share with you how I created my own version of this funny toast that has become viral, also I’ve left an opening on the bottom part to insert objects, do you like it?

Well, let’s start knitting them to give away at your next party!

Materials

  • Thick cotton threads (no. 3 - 5) to be worked with 2.5 - 4.5 mm needles on beige, yellow and pink color
  • Amigurumi eyes
  • Black yarn
  • Button (optional)
  • Embroidery needle and scissors

Because I wanted a big toast, I practically used a real bread to obtain the measurements for our amigurumi

These measurements have given me the opportunity to insert plastic bags, so the little pocket would be ideal to carry in your purse and be always prepared with bags, but you can put in makeup, a mirror, napkins, antibacterial gel, etc...

Instructions

Bread (2 pieces, in beige color)

Round 1. Sew a chain stitch of 7 cm in length + 1 chain stitch for height

Round 2. Hook in the second to last chain and knit single stitches + 1 chain stitch for height

Round 3 - X. Knit single stitches in each round until obtaining an 8 cm height.

Final round of bread. 1 increase at the start and 1 increase at the end

Cheeks (2 pieces, pink color)

Round 1. Place 6 single stitches in a magic ring, leave a long thread

Sew the cheeks to the toast, close and hide remaining threads towards the back part of the bread

Eyes: place the amigurumi eyes symmetrically

*For SAFETY if this amigurumi is for babies or small children, it’s better to knit the eyes, use a less thick yarn and knit 8 single stitches in a magic ring. If you don’t find amigurumi eyes, follow this procedure as well

Jam (1 piece, yellow color)

Round 1. Place 6 single stitches in a magic ring

Round 2. On the first single stitch knit: *1 single stitch, 1 half double crotchet, 1 single stitch* do this in every previous single stitch [18 stitches], leave a long thread

Sew the jam to the toast, close and hide the thread towards the back part of the bread

I share with you the technic I used to place the amigurumi eyes. As you can see, a point tip is left which I would have no problem with leaving it if it was a doll, but in this case that point tip can damage the objects we’d introduce in the pocket. So, with pliers, cut the point tips to the brim of the safety plugs and then fill with hot silicone or resistant glue, now they are well secured; this procedure will avoid the objects we put in from being damaged.

To place the contour of the toast, I’ve started from the bottom part placing a single stitch on every space, on each of the corners I’ve given 3 single stitches so when we turn, in total I’ve knitted 2 rounds with single stitch

With single stitch I’ve joined both toasts as presented in the image

This is the result, besides a uniform union, it gives the toast thickness, almost like a sandwich

This is the opening below, to close place a button and create a loop

It’s so delicious! You can knit it so babies play with it and put their bib inside

I hope you liked it

Pleasure to make your party special
