How to make paper butterflies 2015/04/03

Spring is here! Nevertheless the first butterflies have not arrived to visit our flowers.

Meanwhile we are inspired by them to create some with materials we have at home.

These paper butterflies, will work to decorate jars, walls, windows, make a decorative wreath or to beautify presents instead of using the classic bow.

Materials:

  • Recycled paper: newspaper, magazine paper or wrapping paper
  • Metallic wire wrapped (it can be the one used to close bags)
  • Scissors
  • Tape

Process:

To make a butterfly we cut two paper squares, one of 10 cm x 10 cm and another one of 8 cm x 8 cm

We take of the two squares and starting from one corner we make a fold of approximately 1 cm, we turn the paper and make another fold. We continue making folds until reaching the opposite end of the paper.

The result will be a type of small fan. We do the same thing with the other sheet of paper.

We join the pieces on the center with the help of the metallic wire, try to place the small piece underneath, try inverting the order of the fans to see which variant you like the most.

Then we open the paper to give shape to the wings. We mold the wire to form the antennas. If you like the idea you can also round out the wings, if necessary join them on the back with a piece of tape

Now make as many butterflies as you wish

The butterflies are a beautiful theme to set the parties dedicated to girls, find the customizable kit on our store!
