How to set a flower arrangement in a wide base 2017/03/30

I hope today’s proposal is useful to you, since I will show you how to make a flower arrangement with a wide diameter base, as well as suggesting some ideas for the display of the flowers and how to create a Shabby Chic or Rustic style

Materials

  • Flowers in 4 different varieties
  • Cans
  • Mesh and rubber bands
  • Water

To create Shabby style bases, I’ve painted different types of cans in white leaving some scrapes or grazes to give the idea of being antique

We place the mesh on top of the can and set it with a rubber band, I’ve divided the base in 4 parts to show the position of the flowers.

In a quarter of the can, we place one of the flower varieties, placing them between the mesh

In the same way we continue with the rest of the flowers; add the water during this phase, it’ll be easier than in the end

Make as many arrangements as you wish, you won’t need a great number of flowers to fill the arrangements thanks to the mesh;

You could distribute the arrangements along the entire length of the table or in the center for a round table, even placing arrangements of different sizes, heights and base shapes

Another solution for big diameter bases is to use adhesive tape, in the following arrangement I’ve used Statice Floral flowers, a very versatile flower with a wide color range

We create a net sticking the tape from side to side. Make a mesh like the one in the photo, although I recommend you leave more space between the tapes if you would want to place a good number of flowers

In the first option I’ve placed the Statice Floreal in a shade facing the other lighter shade.

It’s an idea to create a change of shade

Also we can divide the center part with white foliage flowers.

I’ve let a delicate flower branch fall towards the table; by the way, don’t forget to add the water

Another idea is to mix all the flowers, creating a unique bouquet, the idea is to cover the area of the base helping ourselves with the tape of mesh; to create a Rustic Chic touch, I’ve covered the can with jute fabric

Don’t forget other details to decorate your event like pennants, pointing cards, welcome banners, etc., like the ones proposed in the Horses and Flowers Kit
