Recipe to make Bean and Cheese Molletes 2016/02/17

 

Colorful and easy to prepare, our canapés will be a delight.

Ingredients for 50-60 canapés

  • ½ kg. of haricot beans cooked and grounded
  • 300 grams of Manchego type cheese
  • 10 bobbins of wholemeal bread

We cut the bread in slices of 1 or 1½ cm thick, this will give us about 5 to 6 pieces per bread, without counting the ends; If you prefer it we can cut the bread in halves, it will depend on the occasion of where we will be serving them

We prepare slices of fresh cheese that has the capacity of melting and with a mold we form circles of the same size as the bread

Bean preparation

1. Clean de ½ kg of beans

2. Let them soak for 12 hours before cooking

3. With the help of a strainer, we remove the water they were soaking in and wash

4. In the pot cover the beans with enough water on medium heat, always with the lid; once the water starts boiling, cook for 1 hour making sure the water level always covers the beans

Almost before turning of the heat, we add salt, never before.

To blend them, we wait so they are not so hot and we make sure to not add a lot of water to the blender since we need a thick consistency

In 2 tablespoons of olive oil cook the beans, they must be like a cream

Hot like this, we spread on the breads

And place the cheese; like this we can leave the trays prepared which we will be putting in the oven before offering them to the guests

As you need them, we put them in the oven at 150ºC for spaces of 10 to 15 minutes or until the cheese has melted enough

Decorate with basil leaves, rosemary, radish fans or red or green sauce; serve hot
