How to make Mango juice 2017/05/24

Surely you’ve seen this fruit in stores, but maybe you’ve never dared to buy it.

Today I’ll explain some things about mango

Ingredients

  • 1 Ripe mango
  • 750 ml to 1 litter of water (3 to 4 cups)
  • 3 generous spoonful of sugar

This is how we find mango in Italy: when touched it feels uniformly hard and that is right, because we must not buy it if it has soft parts, this does not mean it’s ready to consume

We must wait for it to ripen, this is achieved by wrapping it in newspaper and putting it in a dark place, like inside an oven or the pantry; this helps to give a uniform heat so it ripens. It is not a good idea to buy it and then put it in the fridge, this way it will not ripen

After 4-7 days we will get a uniformly soft mango, be careful when checking it since we must not bruise it to avoid excess ripening in this zones

Remove the peel with a knife or as you would remove a banana peel. Cut the pulp into sections and put it on a plate to avoid the juice to go to waste

Put the pulp in the blender cup with the sugar and 2 cups of water (500 ml) initially, blend

We will see that the juice is thick, so then we add the 3rd cup of water and up to a 4rd one, always checking that the consistency is optimum, meaning it must not be too thick or too liquid. Recheck the sugar, refrigerate and ready!

One mango serves approximately 4 cups of 250 ml each, with this information you can make calculations for the number of cups you’ll serve, for example 5 mangoes for 20 people
